RDC Chairman Gov. Salvacion Z. Perez welcomes Department of Land Reform Secretary Rene Villa as he graces the 4th Quarter meeting of the Regional Development Council (RDC) of Region VI.

“Today is a historic day for our province.”
Thus said Antique Governor Salvacion Z. Perez, the new chairperson of the Regional Development Council (RDC), in her opening statement during the opening of the 4th quarter RDC Meeting at San Jose de Buenavista, Antique on November 18, 2004.
RDC is a planning and policy making body, the membership of which are provincial governors, city mayors, capital town mayors, regional directors and NGO representatives.
After browsing the voluminous Western Visayas Development Plan for 2005-2010, Perez identified common denominators in different regional programs that coincide with the Arroyo administration’s 10 point agenda for national development which are: 1) job creation through economic growth; 2) social services with Direct Poverty Reduction Measures; 3) Physical Planning and Sustainable Management of the Environment; 4) Improved Infrastructure and Logistics Support; 5) Good Governance.
Noting that one of the goals of the RDC plan is to reduce population growth rate from 1.56% to 1.31% by 2010, Perez stressed that Population Management should be included as one of RDC’s priorities.
She requested her fellow officials to set aside funds from the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) to be used in the population program.
Perez also called for the realization of the Panay Area Business development Project that was earlier endorsed by Senator Mar Roxas
Perez, who is the first official from Antique who became chair of RDC, promised a “purpose-driven kind of leadership” as she appealed for unity, support and cooperation from her fellow officers.
